A.J. Schell Promoted to Senior Vice President of Loan Risk Management at Planters Bank

Planters Bank is pleased to announce the promotion of A.J.  Schell to Senior Vice President of Loan Risk Management. This advancement reflects A.J. ’s exceptional contributions to the bank and his commitment to maintaining high standards in loan risk assessment. 

Born and raised in DeSoto County, AJ graduated from Southaven High School before earning his Master of Accountancy from the University of Mississippi. He began his professional journey in public accounting before transitioning to the banking industry in 2009 with First Capital Bank. Following the acquisition of First Capital by Planters Bank in 2021, AJ has played a pivotal role in the organization's lending operations. 

Currently, AJ is furthering his education at the Graduate School of Banking at LSU (GSBLSU), with an anticipated graduation in May. He brings a wealth of experience and knowledge in loan risk management to his new role, ensuring that Planters Bank continues to navigate the financial landscape effectively and responsibly. Chief Banking Officer, commented on the promotion: “AJ has consistently demonstrated a strong understanding of risk management and the banking industry. His dedication to his team and our customers has made a lasting impact on our organization. We are thrilled to see him take on this leadership role.” AJ resides in Olive Branch with his wife, Jennifer, and their three sons, Dominic (21), Ben (18), and William (10). When the weather permits, AJ enjoys taking his family on camping trips, often to their favorite destination in Heber Springs, AR.
